Israel Defense Forces Intercept Dozens of Missiles from Lebanon; Hezbollah Claims Responsibility

The Israeli army announced, on Friday, that it “detected about 40 missiles fired from Lebanese territory, and some of them were intercepted.”

Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee said on the “X” platform that some of the missiles fell in open areas without causing any casualties.

Adraee added that earlier on Friday evening, “the air defenses intercepted two Hezbollah bomb drones that infiltrated from the direction of Lebanon, where warnings were activated for fear of falling fragments of the interception.”

Adraee pointed out that the Israeli army “detected the firing of several shells from Lebanon towards the area of the town of Ramot Naftali, without causing any casualties.”

The Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah announced that it fired “dozens of Katyusha rockets” at Israeli artillery positions on Friday, in an attack that it said was a response to Israeli attacks on towns in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah has been exchanging fire on an almost daily basis across the border with the Israeli army since Hamas launched its attack on southern Israel on October 7, which led to the outbreak of war in Gaza.

Since the beginning of the mutual bombing, at least 363 people have been killed in Lebanon, including 240 Hezbollah members and 70 civilians, according to a tally prepared by Agence France-Presse based on party statements and official Lebanese sources.

On the other hand, ten soldiers and eight civilians were killed on the Israeli side by fire originating in Lebanon, according to the Israeli army.
