The Palestinian Red Crescent reports that a total of nearly 1,900 people have now been injured in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. According to Palestinian sources, at least six people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, including children. When asked, the Israeli army had not yet commented on the Reuters news agency.
On the border with Lebanon, where there is also unrest due to demonstrations and where missiles were fired at Israel on Thursday, a second protester has died after being hit by Israeli gunfire.
In all, more than 120 people, including some 30 children, are said to have died as a result of Israeli air strikes. In Israel, eight have been killed so far after Palestinian militants fired some 2,000 missiles from Gaza.
Violence between Israel and the Palestinians has flared up after tensions over Israeli settlement policy have risen. In Jerusalem, there have been regular clashes between Palestinians and the Israeli police in recent weeks.
