Israel demands to cancel renaming of stadium in Ternopil

The Israeli Ambassador appealed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ternopil City Council and the OP with a demand to immediately cancel the decision to rename.

Israel condemns the renaming of the city stadium in Ternopil in honor of Roman Shukhevych, a member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists. About it stated Israel’s Ambassador to Ukraine Yoel Lyon on Twitter on Tuesday 9 March.

As Lyon wrote, Shukhevych was the Hauptmann of the 201st SS Battalion Schutzmanschaft during World War II.

Lyon also demanded to immediately cancel the decision of the Ternopil City Council to rename, and in his post noted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the City Council of Ternopil and the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Recall that earlier in Kharkov, Grigorenko Avenue was renamed to Zhukov again… Kharkiv deputies once again voted to rename Grigorenko Avenue.

It was also reported that the name of Marshal Zhukov will be returned to Heavenly Hundred Avenue in Odessa… There are all legal grounds for this decision, says the mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov.
