Israel Cleared to Participate in Eurovision 2022, 20-Year-Old Edene Golan to Represent Country

On February 15, the European Broadcasting Union announced that discussions had taken place and a decision had been made that Israel could participate in the annual pop festival.

The Eurovision Song Contest is a non-political music event, a competition between public broadcasters that are members of the EBU. It is not a competition between governments. Israel’s public broadcaster Kan meets all the rules of this year’s competition and can participate, as it has for the past 50 years,” EBU Director General Noel Curran said in a statement.

Israel will take the stage in the second semi-final on May 9, where 10 of the 16 artists will advance to the final on May 11. Latvia’s representative Dons will also take part in the second semi-final.

20-year-old Edene Golan, who grew up in Russia but has been living in Israel for many years, will represent Israel at Eurovision. The country enters the Eurovision final every year since 2015. It is not yet known what Eden will sing in the competition!
