This was Israel’s first successful test of a laser weapon.
“During the intercept test last week, a laser system was installed on a civilian Cessna aircraft, which is tasked with finding and destroying drones with the help of an autonomous detection and tracking system,” the Israeli Defense Ministry said.

“We managed to intercept several UAVs in the air, over a distance of more than a kilometer,” said Brigadier General Yaniv Rotem, head of the Israel Defense Ministry’s research and development team.

“This is the first time in Israel that we have managed to do this,” he said.
