The Chief of Staff of the IDF, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, said after the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah that Israel will reach out to anyone who threatens the country and its citizens.
“This is not the end of the existing equipment. “The message is simple, to anyone who threatens the citizens of the State of Israel, we will know how to reach them,” he said, as reported by the Times of Israel.
In a statement, the IDF said that in addition to Nasrallah, the head of Hezbollah’s Southern Front, Ali Karaki, was also killed, along with other leaders.
Nasrallah was targeted while he was in Hezbollah’s main stronghold in the suburbs of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold known as Dahiyeh.
“The headquarters is underground, under a residential building in Dahiyeh,” the IDF said.
“The attack was carried out while top Hezbollah officials were at their headquarters and engaged in coordinating terrorist acts against the citizens of the State of Israel,” the military said.
