Amman –
Authority Jordan hurled condemnation for Israel that’s called sabotaging the locks of the four minaret or tower doors Masjid Al-Aqsa in an effort to block the call to prayer.
As reported by the Saudi Arabian media, Arab NewsOn Thursday (15/4/2021), Israel’s move to sabotage the locks on the doors of the four minarets of the Al-Aqsa Mosque was carried out after waqf officials refused to turn off mosque loudspeakers on the first day of Ramadan which fell on Tuesday (13/4) local time.
Al-Aqsa Mosque waqf officials stated that Israel wants calm when its soldiers pray at the Buraq Wall or Western Wall, or better known as the Wailing Wall.
It is known that the Jerusalem Waqf Council is a Jordan-run body that is mandated to oversee the holy sites of Muslims and other Christians in East Jerusalem. A number of Jordanian officials claim that officials of the Jordan-run Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa affairs department were harassed during the Israeli Police operation.
Jordan’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Daifallah Al-Fayez, described Israel’s actions as provocation against Muslims around the world and constituted a violation of international law as well as the historical status quo.
He emphasized that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is a “pure” Islamic holy site and that the Jerusalem Endowment Department is the “sole authority” tasked with overseeing all affairs in the complex.
A source at the Jerusalem Endowment Council spoke to Arab News that: “This is the first time since 1967 that Israeli oppressors have sabotaged keys to get into the minarets and physically cut off the power to the loudspeakers. And they are after officials and waqf staff who refuse to carry out their demands.”
