Israel: Biden Warns Against Military Operations in Overcrowded Rafah, Gaza Strip

The White House said that President Joe Biden toldIsraelPrime Minister Netanyahu said military operations should not be launched in the overcrowded city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip unless arrangements are first made to “ensure the safety of personnel.”

Agence France-Presse reported that the White House said in a statement that Biden “reaffirmed his view to Benjamin Netanyahu that there should be no credible and credible support for the safety and support of the more than 1 million people who have taken refuge there.” Under the execution of the plan, a military operation was launched in Rafah.”

Reuters reported that Biden spent the weekend at his home in Wilmington, Delaware. This is the first conversation between the two since Biden said on the 8th that Israel’s military response to the Gaza Strip “has gone too far.”

Rafah, which borders Egypt, has been sheltered from constant Israeli bombing for four months.PalestineThe only remaining place of refuge for man.Palestinian Islamic Radical MovementHamas(Hamas) gunmen launched a raid on October 7 last year, killing 1,200 Israelis and taking about 250 hostages, triggering war.

The health ministry in Gaza, under Hamas, estimates that some 28,000 Palestinians have been killed since the conflict broke out.

The United States, the United Nations and foreign governments are deeply worried about Netanyahu’s plan to invade Rafah. The local people who host about 1.4 million people are overcrowded, many live in tents, and food, drinking water and medicine are increasingly scarce.

In an interview clip released last night, Netanyahu insisted that military operations would be launched in Rafah and that “safe passages would be provided so that civilians can evacuate.”

Asked in an interview broadcast today where civilians should go, Netanyahu said: “You know, those areas north of Rafah that we have cleared, many areas there. But we will have a detailed plan .”

In an interview with Netanyahu aired today on the ABC program “This Week,” he said when asked how many hostages were still alive, “enough to justify the kind of efforts we are about to take.” “We will try to do everything we can to bring back everyone who is alive and, frankly, the remains of the deceased as well.”

At the same time, Palestinian Autonomous Government Chairman Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Doha, the capital of Qatar, today and will hold discussions with Qatari King Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani tomorrow on ensuring the ceasefire in Gaza. Qatar is home to many Hamas political leaders and has played an important mediating role in the conflict.

Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Abbas would hold talks with Tamim tomorrow, but did not mention whether he would meet with the Hamas leader. Hamas has long been at odds with Abbas and his West Bank-based Fatah group.

Munir Ghannam, the Palestinian ambassador to Qatar, told the Voice of Palestine radio station today that Abbas will discuss how to ensure a ceasefire with Israel in Gaza and how to increase rescue for the 2 to 3 million Gazans. Materials and other issues were discussed with Tamim.
