On Wednesday (12/5/2021), German police arrested more than a dozen men in three cities. They are accused of vandalizing the synagogue, burning the Israeli flag and lighting a fire at the memorial for the Jews.
Authorities said further protests over the Israeli and Palestinian conflict in Gaza were possible.
Previously, the Israeli Ambassador in Berlin, Jeremy Issacharoff asked the Germans to protect the Jewish community. According to him, the conflict in the Middle East has nothing to do with the community in Germany.
“The Middle East conflict has nothing to do with the Jewish community here. I urge the German authorities to do all they can to ensure the safety of the community,” said Jeremy.
Since some time ago, the conflict between Israel and Palestine has continued to heat up. Both parties also returned to attack each other.
