Israel launch an attack on Lebanon in retaliation for the rocket fire that hit his country on Monday (25/4).
“In retaliation for projectiles fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel, the Israeli Armed Forces artillery forces [IDF] attacked the source of the fire in Lebanon,” the IDF said in a statement AFP.
Israel’s chief military spokesman, Ran Kochav, suspected the rockets were fired by Palestinian groups in Lebanon. According to him, the rocket hit an open field in northern Israel.
“We believe this is related to the Muslim holy month, Ramadan, and the riots at the Al-Aqsa Complex,” Kochav told Israel Kan Radio.
He was referring to clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in recent times.
Since Friday two weeks ago, clashes have continued at the shrine complex. Hundreds of people were injured as a result of this series of clashes.
Meanwhile, a small number of Palestinian factions in Lebanon have frequently attacked Israel in the past. However, these conditions began to subside since the war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006.
