Israel attacks Hezbollah base in Syria, 10 people killed

Israel attack on Hezbollah military base in Qusayr province, Syria. As a result, 10 people died.

Reported AFPOn Friday (1/11/2024), the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the 10 people killed were mostly civilians. 3 Israeli strikes are known to have targeted the city of Qusayr, which is controlled by Iran-backed Hezbollah.

One attack targeted a “Hezbollah weapons depot and fuel storage facility in the industrial city of Qusayr”. The attack killed seven civilians and three Syrian fighters working for the Hezbollah group.

At least 11 other people were injured in the attack. Then another Israeli attack hit warehouses near the Lebanese border and a bridge south of Qusayr.

Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee said that “weapons stores and headquarters used by Hezbollah” were attacked in the Qusayr region. Adraee said the attack was aimed at stopping an attempt to “transfer weapons from Iran through Syria to Hezbollah in Lebanon”.

Syria’s official news agency, SANA, said the Israeli strikes targeted the Qusayr industrial area and several residential areas. SANA said the attack caused material damage.
