Israel asks people to leave south of Beirut – NRK Urix – Foreign news and documentaries

On Wednesday night, several messages from the IDF ask people in the suburbs of Beirut to leave. So far, at least six evacuation orders have been issued, according to Avichay Adraee of X. He is an Arab spokesman for the IDF.

The IDF has confirmed that it is attacking what it describes as Hezbollah targets in the Lebanese capital.

So far no damage or injuries have been reported.

But several witnesses, including an AFP journalist, have described bangs. And a Lebanese security source says the area has been hit at least five times by Israeli aircraft, according to AFP.

An AFP journalist heard two explosions, which he described as one of them being very powerful. It must have started burning and smoke is rising.

According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, it concerns the area of ​​Dahieh, which has been attacked again recently.

More evacuation orders

Around 11.30 pm on Tuesday night, the first evacuation order came where the IDF asked the residents of the southern part of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, to evacuate, writes Reuters.

In the statement, the IDF specifies which two buildings the residents must evacuate, and that they should stay 500 meters away from the buildings. Israel believes the buildings are being used by Hezbollah.

And according to AFP, the Israeli air force is warning that they will continue with attacks in the Middle East tonight.

Iran’s attack on Israel

On Tuesday afternoon, Iran fired 180 missiles into Israel, according to the Israeli military (IDF).

Iran says the attack came in response to the assassinations of Ismail Haniyeh, Hassan Nasrallah and Abbas Nilforoushan. All were important leaders in Hamas, Hezbollah and the Revolutionary Guard respectively.

Israel was quick to warn of the consequences for Iran. Spokesmen for the IDF also said that the country would continue air strikes throughout the night.

The turmoil, attacks and tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, which is based in Lebanon, have increased since the attack against Israel on October 7. After the pager attack in September, there have been daily rocket attacks in the border areas.

According to the Lebanese health authorities, 55 people were killed in the Israeli attacks on Tuesday.

Eide: – On the brink of a great war
