Israel asks Hamas not to violate the ceasefire, the US disburses Rp. 1 trillion to Gaza

Israel warn Hamas not to violate the ceasefire agreed last week, after 11 days of fighting. United States of America (US) pledged US$ 75 million (Rp 1 trillion) to rebuild Gaza after being attacked by Israel.

The warning to Hamas was issued by the Prime Minister (PM) of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, after meeting the Secretary of State of the United States (US), Antony Blinken, who was visiting the Middle East to strengthen the ceasefire in Gaza.

While US authorities have also promised that international aid to rebuild Gaza will not benefit Hamas, the militant group that controls the territory. By the US, Hamas is considered a ‘terrorist organization’.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Hamas not to violate the ceasefire agreed last week. Netanyahu said Israel would respond “very strongly” if Hamas violated the ceasefire.

As reported AFP and Sky News, Wednesday (26/5/2021), Netanyahu delivered the warning after meeting with the United States (US) Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, who was visiting the Middle East to strengthen the ceasefire in Gaza.

Netanyahu thanked the US for its unwavering support for Israel’s “right to self-defence” during 11 days of fighting with Hamas in early May. The ceasefire was agreed by Israel and Hamas, with Egyptian mediation in coordination with the US, last week.
