Israel announces the killing of two of its soldiers in the Gaza Strip

The Israeli army announced on Sunday that two of its soldiers were killed during battles in the Gaza Strip, bringing the death toll among its forces since the start of the war to 398.

The army revealed in a statement that the families of two of its soldiers had been informed of their deaths, as a 20-year-old sergeant died last night from his wounds during a battle last November 14 in the northern Gaza Strip.

He also pointed out that another soldier was killed during a battle in the central Gaza Strip last night.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation revealed on Sunday that with this announcement, the number of Israeli army deaths since the start of the current war in Gaza has reached 398 people.

It is noteworthy that the Palestinian Hamas movement (classified as a terrorist organization in the United States and other countries) announced on Saturday that it had carried out attacks in the northern Gaza Strip against Israeli forces, saying that “a soldier was sniped… and was directly injured,” and that “two troop carriers were targeted with Al-Yassin shells.”

The Israeli army announced, on Saturday, “the liquidation of… the commander of the Shujaiya Brigade affiliated with the Hamas terrorist organization, who was responsible for the incident of destroying a military armored vehicle during Operation Protective Edge.”

The Israeli army spokesman, Avichai Adraee, stated via “X” that the battalion commander, Wissam Fraihat, also sent “the saboteurs of the elite unit towards the kibbutz and the site of Nahal Oz during the bloody events of October 7th.”

US Secretary of Defense: Civilians are the “center of gravity” in the Gaza war

On Saturday, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin made his strongest statements yet about the need for Israel to protect civilians in Gaza, describing them as the center of gravity in Israel’s war with Hamas and warning of the dangers of their extremism, according to what Reuters reported.

The truce between Israel and Hamas ended on Friday, 7 days after it entered into force. The Hamas-affiliated government of the Gaza Strip announced on Saturday that at least 240 people had been killed in the Strip since the end of the truce on Friday morning.

Israel and Hamas are sharing responsibility for the end of the truce, which allowed for the release of more than 100 hostages in exchange for the release of 240 Palestinian prisoners, in addition to the entry of more aid into the Gaza Strip.

The Gaza Strip has been subjected to Israeli bombing since October 7, accompanied by a ground military operation that began on the 27th of the same month, after the unprecedented attack launched by the Hamas movement on Israel, which left 1,200 dead, most of them civilians, including women and children, and also led to the kidnapping of 240 hostages, according to the Israeli authorities. .

Israeli operations in Gaza left more than 15,000 dead, most of them civilians, including women and children, according to health authorities in the Strip.
