Israel announces one condition for ending attack on Lebanon

The document reportedly contains two main demands, according to Israeli officials who spoke to Axios. The second demand is for the air force to be given the freedom to operate in Lebanese airspace, Axios reported.

A US official told the outlet that it was highly unlikely that Lebanon or the international community would agree to Israel’s demands as they contravene UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which wants the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon to be enforced by the Lebanese Armed Forces and the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

However, an Israeli official, speaking to Axios, said that Israel’s proposal was intended to increase the enforcement of laws that are governed by UN resolutions. “Our main message is that if the Lebanese army and UNIFIL do more, the IDF will do less and vice versa,” he said.
