Israel and the two main armed groups in Gaza agreed ceasefire weapons on Thursday local time for a series of deadly violence that entered its 11th day since it broke out on May 10, 2021.
A statement from the office of the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, was quoted as saying AFP, revealed that the security cabinet had unanimously agreed to accept Egypt’s recommendations and initiatives for an unconditional ceasefire.
“Reciprocity and unconditionality,” read the statement as proposed by the Egyptian mediator, as quoted Reuters.
However, the Israeli statement did not say when the ceasefire would take effect.
Meanwhile, the Hamas and Islamic Jihad groups – which are the two main armed groups in Palestine – later confirmed the ceasefire through a statement that the action would take effect on Friday (21/5) at 02.00 local time.

Biden’s insistence came amid mediation offers by Egypt, Qatar and the United Nations.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who previously attended a meeting with top security officials, promised to achieve the military campaign goal of restoring peace and security for Israelis.
As for a Hamas official revealed to Reuters that this truce would be mutually beneficial and happen simultaneously.
