Israel and Hamas exchanged more prisoners late Wednesday as hopes grew that negotiators with Qatar and the United States could persuade both sides to again extend a ceasefire agreement that is set to expire in a few hours.

Details: The 10 Hamas hostages released, five children and five women, including US, German and Dutch citizens, prompted Israel to release 30 Palestinians. These were the terms of the exchanges.
In a separate agreement, Hamas released four Thai citizens and two Russian-Israeli citizens.
What preceded:
- At seven in the morning on November 24, a four-day truce began between Israel and Hamas militants.
- On the evening of November 24, the first 13 Israeli hostages, accompanied by members of the International Committee of the Red Cross, left the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing.
- As a result of the negotiations, during the truce, Hamas must release 50 hostages captured on October 7, and the Israeli authorities must release 150 Palestinian prisoners.
- On Monday, Qatar, as a mediator, successfully negotiated an agreement between Israel and Hamas to extend the four-day truce between them by two more days.
