Israel admits it hit Egypt by mistake

The Israeli army announced that the Kerem Abu Salim region near the Egyptian border was mistakenly targeted. SIA reports with reference to foreign media that this was stated in a written statement issued by the spokesman of the Israeli army, Kerem Shalom:

“We hit Egypt by mistake. A short time ago, a tank belonging to the Israeli army mistakenly opened fire and hit the Egyptian position in the Kerem Shalom (Kerem Abu Salim) region near the border. We express our sadness over that incident.” On the other hand, Colonel Garib Abdulhafez, the spokesman of the Egyptian Armed Forces, also made a statement on the issue.

He said in his statement: “During the ongoing clashes in the Gaza Strip, fragments of a shell accidentally fired from an Israeli tank hit one of the Egyptian border control towers on the opposite line of the border. Some border control personnel were slightly injured in the incident. Necessary investigations are ongoing.”
