Israel accuses the governments of Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei of being dishonest about the Gaza conflict. Government Indonesia also accused Israel of being dishonest about the real root of the problem.
Reported from Reuters, the accusation was made by Israel through the Israeli Ambassador to Singapore, Sagi Karni. Karni called the leaders of Muslim-majority countries in Southeast Asia dishonest and ignored the true nature of the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
He said the ongoing conflict was between Israel and Hamas. Not between Israel and the Palestinians.
“Hamas is an anti-Semitic organization…. I’m not sure the people who participate in the debate on social media really understand the radical and fascist nature of Hamas,” he told Reuters in a video interview. Hamas has denied allegations of anti-Semitism.
Karni also stated that he was willing to have a dialogue to build relations with Indonesia et al. According to him, it is fitting for Indonesia to establish relations with Israel to better understand the real root of the problem.
“We’re willing to talk, we’re willing to meet, and the door is open as far as we’re concerned. I don’t think it’s that hard to find us,” he said.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs denies
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) also denied Israel’s accusations. According to the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Teuku Faizasyah, the root cause of the conflict is the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
“The root of the problem or root causesis the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories (occupied territories),” said Faizasyah to detik.com, Friday (18/6/2021).
Therefore, according to him, it is the Israeli government that must honestly admit the real root of the problem.
“Israel must be honest to admit the root of the problem,” he said.
After all, said Faizasyah, Hamas is part of the Palestinian nation. They are trying to fight for the independence of Palestine from Israeli occupation.
“Hamas is part of the Palestinian nation that fights for the independence of Palestine from Israeli occupation,” he said Faizasyah.
