Arouri is one of the founders of the Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, and led Hamas’ presence in the occupied West Bank.
– Residents of the north of Israel, among them settlers, will be the first to pay the price in a war, says Nasrallah in a speech on Friday.
Furthermore, he says that if Israel succeeds in its goals in the Gaza Strip, southern Lebanon will be next.
Historic opportunity
The current military actions in the border areas with Israel in the south give Lebanon a “historic opportunity” to liberate territory occupied by Israel, he says further.
On Wednesday, Nasrallah called the killing of Arouri a great and dangerous crime, and said that if Israel goes to war against Lebanon, there are no limits to how Hezbollah will fight.
According to Nasrallah, Hezbollah has carried out around 670 military operations in the border area with Israel since October 8, and he says that a “large number of Israeli vessels and tanks” have been destroyed.
76,000 driven to flight
A report from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) states that 76,018 people have been displaced as a result of the clashes between Lebanon and Israel.
175 people have been killed in the fighting, among them 129 Hezbollah fighters and at least 20 civilians, according to a tally by the French news agency AFP.
In northern Israel, nine soldiers and five civilians have been killed, according to the Israeli authorities. Hezbollah attacks Israeli soldiers at the border almost daily in support of Hamas.
