Military Israel said his troops were preparing for a possible armed conflict with Iran who became Tel Aviv’s sworn enemy so far.
Israel’s Chief of Military Staff, Lieutenant General Aviv Kohavi, said the Israeli military was “accelerating its operational plans and readiness to deal with Iranian and other threats.” the nuclear.”
Israel regards Iran as an existential threat and Tel Aviv has repeatedly insisted it will act by military means if necessary to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.
Speaking at a meeting of parliament’s defense and foreign affairs committee in the Knesset, Kohavi said the military “continues to act to
against our enemies in covert operations and missions around the Middle East” over the past year.
Separately, Defense Secretary Benny Gantz said his country “continues to work around the clock to prevent war” from conducting operations, relaying intelligence messages to preventing military capacity building.
“In the event of war, we are prepared to carry out operations that have not been seen in the past in a way that we have not carried out in the past, that will jeopardize enemy terrorists and their capabilities,” Gantz was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
Gantz made the remarks during a visit to a defense industrial plant in the northern city of Shlomi, near the Lebanese border.
Last month, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid also said if the “terror regime is going to acquire nuclear weapons, we must act.”
Tensions between Israel and Iran continue to heat up, especially after Tehran announced it was continuing to increase its enrichment of uranium, which is the raw material for nuclear weapons.
Iran claims it has now achieved more than 210 kilograms of enrichment from 20 percent uranium. The move was also called a challenge before holding talks with Western countries on nuclear proliferation.
Under the deal between Iran and world powers, Iran is not allowed to enrich uranium above 3.67 percent. While uranium enriched above 90 percent can be used for nuclear weapons.
The announcement came as the European Union, United States and Iran agreed to resume talks over the fate of the 2015 nuclear deal on November 29 in Vienna.
Countries that are members of the Joint Plan of Action (JCPOA) promised to provide economic incentives for Iran.
Condition, Iran must limit their uranium enrichment program so as to prevent the production of nuclear bombs. However, Iran insists that the enrichment program is for peace.
