Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Head of DKI Jakarta Health Office Widyastuti mention the worsening of the condition Covid-19 patient in this period faster than the previous cases.
He said this was related to the surge in cases of Covid-19 patients who died at home while undergoing self-isolation (isoman).
faster between 4-5 days. The worsening of the condition, especially for those undergoing isolation, is faster than in the previous few months which could reach 10-14 days.
“Indeed, our data shows that since the illness has become severe and critical, compared to the previous period, it is faster,” said Widy in an online discussion, Friday (10/7).
“It was 10-14 days ago. Now it’s 4-5 days, our residents who are self-isolating, it turns out that it will get worse if there is no early intervention in therapy,” he added.
Most recently, the East Jakarta Transportation Service Sub-dept. reported evacuating at least 23 residents who died at home more than a week ago since June 29.
Widy noted that currently the number of active Covid-19 cases in Jakarta has reached more than 100 thousand. Of these, 40 percent of them require treatment. In detail, 10-11 percent have severe symptoms, the remaining 30 percent have moderate and mild symptoms.
Along with the number of active cases, he also admitted that the percentage of people without symptoms (OTG) was decreasing. The figure currently reaches 30 percent, down from 50 percent in the previous few months.
“Whether this is bigger than other countries, of course, is a shared question. And how, we must anticipate related to management governance in hospitals,” he said.
Widy admitted that he had increased the capacity to treat Covid-19 patients at 140 referral hospitals in DKI Jakarta. In addition, his party has also collaborated with the central government in handling self-isolated patients.
He admitted that currently his party has given authority to Puskesmas officers to intervene early on residents or patients undergoing self-isolation. The intervention was carried out, for example by giving antivirus to residents.
“That is, since it was diagnosed through positive PCR, it has been given consultation intervention by the companion team and the administration of drugs,” he said.
“In the past, drugs were only in nature, vitamins and medicines for symptoms, now they have been encouraged and given antivirals quickly,” added Widy.
Separately, the family of a Covid-19 patient, SYP (23), scolded medical officers who were considered to have abandoned the bodies of their relatives for hours at the Gowa Regency General Hospital (RSUD), South Sulawesi, Saturday (10/7).
The absence of the Covid-19 Task Force at the location made the family assisted by the hospital carry out their own healing and the parents of the deceased did not use protective clothing or PPE.
Parents’ emotions peaked again when the body, which had originally been loaded into an ambulance, was then removed again. As a result, officers forgot to put the body in the coffin.

“We are very sorry for an incident like this, my child has not been treated since this morning. I want to know what the problem is. We will report this incident to the regent so that it can be followed up,” said the deceased’s mother, Nila while at the hospital.
Head of the General Section of the Gowa District Hospital, Muh Amin, confirmed the incident. He said all the handling of corpses in the hospital had procedures.
“It’s true, this is a family psychological condition that requires fast service, but there are still procedures,” said Muh Amin
“I don’t know the reason, but it seems that the Gowa Regency Covid-19 Task Force has completely handed over the handling of Covid’s bodies to the hospital, starting from the funeral, delivery to the funeral in Macanda,” he said.
With this incident, said Muh Amin, his party will reactivate the officers who will handle Covid-19 bodies like the previous year.
