Isolation period for confirmed cases drops to 10 days | News | The right

Chis decision was taken, according to the ministry, “because of the development of knowledge on the transmission and duration of contagiousness of COVID-19”, in consultation with the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec.

The lifting of isolation is therefore now possible 10 days after the onset of the first symptoms or, if the person is asymptomatic, 10 days after the date of the positive test for COVID-19.

However, even if the 10-day period is over from the onset of symptoms, to lift the isolation, one should have had no fever for at least 48 hours and no more symptoms, except cough and loss of blood. smell, which can last longer.

In addition, contacts of cases who are themselves in isolation must respect a period of 14 days, in order to monitor the appearance of symptoms compatible with COVID-19.

This revision of the duration of isolation applies only to confirmed cases who are in isolation at home and whose illness is considered mild or moderate, the ministry notes.

Immunosuppressed people and people who have been hospitalized in intensive care due to COVID-19 will still need to self-isolate for a period of 21 days or more.
