Reporting from the official website NASAIt seems that the ISS has a special room that prioritizes the health and nutrition of its crew. Because of this, astronauts have to garden to meet these needs.

Gardening on the ISS is no different than on Earth. If on Earth, farmers need sunlight. At the ISS, astronauts need LED lighting to the plants that are watered using special bags filled with seeds and fertilizer.

Most recently, astronauts were asked to test their farm produce. After that, the astronauts will then be asked to rate taste, color, appearance and aroma to find out whether the plant products can be a supplement to the body.

Later, the results of this test will help NASA to design a more unique food system for other space missions in the future.

Previously, in April 2014, the SpaceX spacecraft launched the Dragon cargo mission to the International Space Station carrying a small plant growth cabin.

These growth cabins are specially made so that the astronauts can later grow the desired vegetables themselves for consumption.
