ISO/TC 315: Fourth Plenary Meeting and Working Group Meetings

From September 18 to 22, 2023, the fourth plenary working meeting of ISO/TC 315 Cold chain logistics and related working group meetings were held online and offline in Paris. More than 60 people from 10 countries including China, Japan, South Korea, Germany, France, Uganda, Singapore, India, Malaysia and Mauritius attended the meeting. The Chinese delegation participated in this meeting. Qin Yuming, Secretary-General of the Cold Chain Logistics Professional Committee of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, served as the leader. The delegation was composed of representatives from the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, China Institute of Standardization, Xiamen Institute of Standardization, and Beijing Jiaotong University, Chengdu University, Yuhu Cold Chain (China) Co., Ltd., Zhongmao (Shanghai) Food Technology Co., Ltd., Shandong Meijia Group Co., Ltd., Eli Lilly Trading Co., Ltd., China Resources Guangdong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Fresh Life Cold Chain Logistics Co., Ltd. On September 18, ISO/TC 315 organized the third meeting of CAG (Chairman’s Advisory Group). The ISO/TC 315 chairman, secretary manager, conveners and leaders of each working group participated in this meeting. The secretary manager and the convener of each working group reported to the chairman the progress of standard formulation and follow-up work plans of each working group.

The second meeting of the ISO/TC 315 WG5 (Confirmation) International Standard Working Group was held on the morning of September 19. The working group was convened by South Korea and mainly reviewed ISO/AWI 31513 “Temperature Verification Method for Temperature-Controlled Warehouses and Road Vehicles” discuss international standards. At the meeting, the modification opinions proposed by various countries were discussed and exchanged. The Chinese delegation actively spoke, put forward suggestions for modifications to some parts of the standard, and introduced the practical operations of Chinese enterprises at the meeting.

On the afternoon of September 19, the fourth meeting of the ISO/TC 315 WG4 (Terminology) International Standard Working Group was held, which mainly discussed the ISO/WD 31510 “Cold Chain Logistics Terminology” international standard. This international standard is China’s ISO/ For the second international standard proposed by TC 315, Japan serves as the convener of the working group, and China and Japan jointly serve as project leaders. At the meeting, the revision opinions put forward by various countries were discussed. China put forward a total of 28 opinions on the standard, and a consensus was reached through exchanges and experts attending the meeting.

On September 20, the first meeting of the ISO/TC 315 WG6 (Traceability) International Standard Working Group was held. The meeting mainly reviewed the ISO/AWI TS 31514 “Requirements and Guidelines for Food Traceability in Cold Chain Logistics” international standard Conduct discussions. This international standard is the third international standard proposed by China in ISO/TC 315, with China serving as the convener and project leader. At the meeting, Liu Fei, executive deputy secretary-general of the China Internet of Things Cold Chain Committee, made a speech as the convener. Huang Zhenghong, director of Yuhu Cold Chain (China) Co., Ltd., as the project leader, organized experts from various countries to discuss and exchange standards, and The research results were shared with the participating experts and were unanimously recognized by the participating experts.

On September 21, the seventh meeting of the ISO/TC315 WG2 (contactless distribution) international standard working group was held. The meeting mainly discussed the ISO/CD 31511 “Requirements for contactless distribution services in cold chain logistics” international standard. This standard It is the first international standard proposed by China in ISO/TC 315, with China serving as the convener of the working group and project leader. Dr. Zhu Xianghua of the China Institute of Standardization presided over the meeting and organized experts from various countries to discuss the opinions put forward one by one. It is reported that after reaching a consensus at this meeting, the standard will move from the Committee Draft (CD) stage to the Draft International Standard (DIS) stage, which means that this standard will enter the stage of soliciting opinions.

On September 22, the fourth plenary meeting of ISO/TC315 was held. At the meeting, Mizuno Yukiko, the ISO/TC315 project manager, reported on the work results of TC315 last year. The project conveners of the five international standards working groups reported on their respective work. The progress of the group; ISO/TC 34/SC 17 (Food Safety Management System) and TC 122 (Packaging) committees also reported on the status of joint work respectively. A total of 11 resolutions were reached at this annual meeting, which greatly promoted the international standardization of cold chain logistics.
