Let’s recall Jaguar six years ago, before the F-type sports car was released. Speaking of Jaguar, luxury coupe or saloon represented by XJ series is synonymous. It is a prestigious brand that was reluctantly responding to the downsizing of the world with Ford’s V8 turbo without sticking to the treasure V12 engine. If you think about it now, that was a gradual decline. The Tata Group of India has helped the brand, and since 2008, it has been working with Land Rover to roll up the soil. Tata’s policy is “I will pay, but I will not speak.” Well, it may have been released (laughs), but with abundant development funds, I began to pursue what the original Jaguar should be. We have also tried to differentiate ourselves from other luxury car manufacturers in line with the times.
That being said, Jaguar is recognized as an “adult bad brand”, and there should be no objection to generations in their 50s and above. Although it is a superior British car and gives off overwhelming coolness and sex appeal, the car is delicate and fragile (laugh). I don’t have to worry about Jaguar breaking down anymore (?), But I felt “bad Jaguar-ness” in the compact SUV E-Pace for the first time in a while. The Jaguar-ness that you can feel in this car type, where excessive competition continues. What is that defect? First of all, the design quotes the image of F type, but the impression of the actual car is unexpectedly large and full of presence. Although the F-type is a bad sports coupe in the first place, the design of the sports car is well harmonized with the compact SUV, which has a lumpy feeling while quoting the image.
For example, the dashboard is badly shaped (laughs). This design, which gently inclines toward the occupants, is something that cannot be achieved with an ordinary compact SUV, and on the contrary, it is a design that makes a coupe lover feel good. The running speed is intuitive from the beginning with a stiff undercarriage on the body like a sports car with a torsional rigidity of 28500 Nm / degree. I felt it when I got on the F-Pace and Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, which have a higher vehicle class, but I think it’s a car that is too solid and ready to accept a more powerful engine. The test drive this time is gasoline with 2ℓ in-line 4-cylinder 249 horsepower, but the engine is still big (laughs). It can be said that this is a very good Jaguar-like cycle in which the stronger the engine, the more defective it becomes. I want to install a V6 engine right away. Hahaha.
E-Pace has a car that I would like to compare, it is nothing but Porsche Macan. While the Macan is heading towards a more 911-oriented pure sport, the E-Pace is as natural as it was unconsciously learned in its sharp manners. Even though I quote it, running is not oriented towards F-type. Mostly bad, you have good motor nerves, right? It’s sporty, with that hateful feeling that you can do anything with sports. This high physical ability in the first place is like Lenny Kravitz, who can play all the parts by himself, for example. The nickname “Baby Jaguar” is also good. “I’m going out with a little baby,” or something like that, I feel like saying that (laughs).
