Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, said that the battle in Gaza was unprecedented, and carried great goals on the scale of the Palestinian issue, and on the scale of the nature of the conflict that took place between us and this occupation.
Ismail Haniyeh added during a telephone conversation with the journalist Kamal Madi on the “Malaf Al-Youm” program on the “Cairo News” screen, “I can say that a number of goals were accomplished before this battle ended, including, for example, the return of the Palestine issue once again to the forefront of the world and the interface of regional circulation.” And the international level, having declined before this battle in the ladder of attention for reasons that do not allow time to list.
He explained that one of the goals that were achieved in this heroic operation was that it struck the concept that this army is considered an invincible, legendary army, despite the great difference in the size of the force, equipment, and equipment that the Israeli army possesses.
He pointed out that the third goal is to restore respect to the Palestinian issue in its Arab, Islamic and humanitarian dimension, and we followed how our official Arab system, in more than one meeting, whether the international summit in Cairo, the Islamic summit, or the Arab-Islamic summit held in Saudi Arabia, the issue of Palestine was a priority for us. All the leaders in these conferences, and these goals have a strategic dimension, carry a specific and clear message, that the Palestinian people want freedom for their land, and to live in dignity on this land, and it is time for the historical injustice to which they have been exposed from the Nakba until now to end.
He continued: “It is time for the world to listen to the groans of the Palestinian people and their sacrifices over decades of conflict waged by the Palestinian people and by the peoples of the Arab nation, led by the Arab Republic of Egypt, in previous wars.”
He continued: There is no doubt that the Zionist enemy, since the beginning of this aggression, deliberately attacked all hospitals in northern Gaza, besieged all hospitals in southern Gaza, prevented the entry of medicines and fuel into hospitals, targeted medical facilities, and arrested dozens of health system workers.
He explained that in addition to the heinous massacre committed by the occupation in the Baptist Hospital, it can be said that all hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip are out of service, the most important of which is the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, which is not operating now at even a fifth of capacity, and the insane targeting of the Indonesian Hospital and the massacre of Kamal Adwan Hospital and Al-Awda Hospital, in addition to what Hospitals in the southern Gaza Strip are exposed to it, so we are facing an unprecedented catastrophe on the humanitarian and health levels, with the northern Gaza Strip being deprived of access to aid and relief operations, including health and medical needs.
He continued, “There is no doubt that the United Nations General Assembly meeting, which took place at the beginning of the aggression, and 122 countries voted in favor of stopping the massacre and the new Holocaust in the Gaza Strip, was the correct and sound direction.”
He added that the United Nations is now working in one way or another to bring aid into the Gaza Strip, and is undertaking this through coordination with our brothers in Egypt and the Palestinian Red Crescent.
He continued that the performance with which the United Nations is working is not acceptable, is not sufficient, and is not commensurate with the scale of the humanitarian tragedy that the Gaza Strip is going through. I have said more than once that the United Nations, as an organization that guarantees international peace and security it represents, should be liberated from American restrictions and not submit. to Israeli dictates, whether with regard to humanitarian or relief aid, and it must reconsider the dynamics of work within the Gaza Strip
