Lindau. (RWH) A tidy sum for the youngsters, the presentation of the new sponsor representative and the presentation of a new striker: The EV Lindau Islanders New Year’s Eve reception for sponsors, patrons and friends offered many surprises.
Casino Lindau, headed by director Ralph Item, provided the appropriate setting for the Thanksgiving and, later on the successful evening, even provided the stage for a poker tournament benefiting the ELV extension-Offspring.
The participants “pushed” 600 euros for the youth sector and at the same time expressed their appreciation for the club’s youth work of nearly 500 people. The islanders hope for the same appreciation from the city and the city council, as Bernd Wucher explained in his speech as first president. After all, the association has a great social responsibility. More than 250 young footballers in various age groups train at the EVL. Children and young people are supervised by two full-time trainers and several certified trainers according to their age. When he watches the youth training, Wucher continues, “his heart opens up”.
Wucher had previously introduced the many guests to Jörg Schilling, a new sponsor manager. Schilling comes from the East German ice hockey stronghold of Crimmitschau, worked as a managing partner of the local ice pirates Crimmitschau GmbH of the long-standing DEL2 club and has lived in Wasserburg since 1988.
At the presentation of the current squad, Milo Markovic, the sporting director of the Islanders, was able to present an old acquaintance as a newcomer in Damian Schneider. The 31-year-old returns to Lake Constance from Moskitos Essen. The double path and a job offer from a sponsor Lindauer is the reason for the return of the native of Essen, who moved to his hometown in the summer and previously played for the Islanders for two seasons.
The top three winners of the poker tournament, including winner Sebastian Schwarzbart, received a gift basket as a prize from casino director Item.
Jörg Schilling strengthens the marketing segment of EV Lindau Islanders
Many years of experience in the ice hockey stronghold of Crimmitschau
EV Lindau Islanders strengthen their marketing segment. In the future, Jörg Schilling will be active in the area of sponsor support and sponsor acquisition in coordination with the board of directors Bernd Wucher, Patrick Meier and Michael Messmer. Schilling comes from the East German ice hockey stronghold of Crimmitschau, worked as a managing partner of the local ice pirates Crimmitschau GmbH of the long-standing DEL2 club and has lived in Wasserburg since 1988. The new sponsorship officer was introduced on 5 January 2023 as part of the islanders’ New Year’s Eve reception in the Cantinetta restaurant of the Lindau casino.
“We’ve had good conversations with him lately and I look forward to the support,” said Bernd Wucher, first president of the Islanders. “We hope that Jörg’s experience will take us one step further into the future.” Schilling’s area of responsibility includes looking after sponsors, not just on matchdays but beyond.
Bernd Wucher and Jörg Schilling have known each other for many years. “I offered Bernd to work a little bit to take the EVL forward,” said Jörg Schilling, who played a key role at Crimmitschau when the GmbH was founded there. Founded in 2007, the “Eispiraten” are a professional team of ETC Crimmitschau, which currently plays in DEL2.
“In Lindau, I want to bring one or the other experience that I was able to glean in Crimmitschau,” says the new head of sponsors at the EVL. Jörg Schilling continues: Sponsorship is the most important pillar of every association/club today. It forms the basis upon which clubs can plan and work economically for their future.
