Islamic radicals have killed 50 people in Mozambique

The radicals first attacked the village of Nanjaba with the shout “God is great” and set houses on fire over the people. Two people were killed and kidnapped by several women. Another group then attacked the village of Muatide. From Friday to Sunday, she beheaded more than 50 people on the football field and cut the bodies.

The BBC wrote that it is one of the most brutal actions of radicals in the province of Cabo Delgado since 2017. Their attacks have claimed the lives of 2,000 people and 430,000 have fled their homes.

Mozambican radicals operate in the majority Muslim part of the country and support the terrorist Islamic State (IS). They recruit people from poor areas with high unemployment. They also take advantage of complaints that local people make minimal profit from the gas and rubies mined in this part of the country.

The local government has asked for international help to fight these groups, with the need for soldiers to undergo special training. Human rights defenders claim Mozambican soldiers violate human rights in radical operations, arrest people for no reason, torture and kill people
