The political party Nida will not participate in the municipal elections in the spring. The movement, which is inspired by Islam, continues as an action, lobby and network association.
The party, which this year made a futile attempt to win the House of Representatives to enter, strives for “a politics and society in which the next generation grows up with Islam as the inspiration for the solution” and not as the “cause of the problem”.
But it is precisely the political party that stands in the way of that goal. It evokes “negative energy” in itself and in allies, states Nida. “The party’s struggle for seats and self-preservation is at the expense of the higher struggle.”
Regionally active
Nida was founded in 2013 and has been a member of the Rotterdam city council since 2014. In 2018, the party also entered the city council of The Hague and in 2019 in that of Almere. At the beginning of this year, the only Amsterdam Denk councilor stepped down over to Nida.
