ISL: Victory over Odisha; Jamshedpur retains play-off hopes

Maddox: Jamshedpur finally win after five matches without a win in ISL. Jamshedpur defeated Odisha FC by a single goal. With the win, Jamshedpur maintained their play-off hopes with 18 points from 15 matches to move up to sixth position. Odisha, meanwhile, are bottom of the table with eight points from 14 matches.

In the 41st minute, a long cross was deflected into the box by Mohammad Mobashir. Nerijus Valskis extended his footing for the final touch of the cross, but Wilskis’ legs were cut off and Odisha’s goalkeeper Arshadeep Singh was caught by the ball.

Jamshedpur continued to attack as Odisha were reluctant to attack even after the goal was scored. Odisha struggled with occasional counter-attacks but the Jamshedpur defense, led by Stephen Essay and Peter Hartley, stood firm. Meanwhile, Jamshedpur’s Farooq Chaudhary also lost the golden opportunity to take the lead.
