At the Aysén Regional Library, the discussion organized by the Institute of Labor Safety, ISL, on School Insurance, a State benefit that all regular students of schools recognized by the Ministry of Education have, was held.
The Seremi Rodrigo Díaz commented on the initiative, “For us as the Government of President Boric, as the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, the activity that the Institute for Occupational Safety, ISL, the State mutual insurance company, is carrying out today is a fundamental task. They are communicating to all attendees from different fields of education, the School Insurance, which is free, with coverage for all students in establishments, which are recognized by the State. This is fundamental, here we are linked directly from the world of work with education, through the Institute of Occupational Safety. I hope that all the people are informed, participate and ask, we hope with the ISL, to replicate this activity in different places, so that all parents and guardians are informed, and activate the insurance, when they have an accident in the educational establishment, what denounce, in such a way that the insurance can operate. This insurance is free, there is an explanatory file that is very didactic, I invite you to find out and find out, because this is great insurance for our boys and girls”, explained the labor and pension authority.
For her part, Mery Fontecha, regional director(s) of the ISL, explained, “Today we are called to have a discussion about everything that has to do with School Insurance, what is the scope, what is it that citizens know. We have invited parents, guardians, educational institutions, schools, preschool education to participate. We want to know what they know, how the School Insurance works and what is the role that we have as the Occupational Safety Institute for this activity and how it is carried out in practical terms. We are co-administrators together with the National Health Service, which is the Public institution, so that is part of the conversation, to know the opinion of the people, of civil society in this aspect”.
Regarding the call, the representative of ISL Aysén commented, “We have had a good reception from the public, many questions have been answered that have arisen as a result of the same conversation and the presentations that have been delivered within the same dialogue”, said Mary Fontecha.
One of the participants in the activity was Sandra Alvarado, education assistant at the Víctor Domingo Silva School, who referred to the aspects addressed and the approaches to improve knowledge about this benefit, “I found it super important, because although we We deal with the subject of School Insurance a lot at school, there are some points that we were not aware of, for example, the reimbursement of glasses, in the case of an accident involving a child, we were not aware that this could ask for a refund or return of the lens, and if everyone has also agreed on the issue of diffusion within the establishments, more than anything for parents and for the entire community, it is important, because that way there is more knowledge of everything that involves School Insurance. We were driving that we had a time limit, that the insurance expired and it is clear to us that the School Insurance does not expire.
The School Insurance is derived from Supreme Decree No. 313 of the year 1972, which incorporated in article No. 3 of Law No. 16,744, accidents that occur during studies, or while carrying out educational or professional practice. In this context and as the regional director(s) commented, the ISL grants economic benefits, while the National Health Services System, through the Public Health Network, provides free medical attention to students. who have the quality of regular student in establishments dependent on the State or recognized by it.
