The first two shots of the game were scored by the Roosters – both times the attempt from the blue line was unsuccessful. Schwenningen’s Phillip Feist had the first big chance of the game, running freely towards Iserlohn’s goalkeeper Andreas Jenike, but he was denied.
Iserlohn’s Jenike with strong saves
The hosts then acted more courageously and had good shooting opportunities. For Iserlohn, the puck suddenly fell on Noel Saffran‘s stick – his finish was not crowned with success. Shortly before the third break, Osburn had the guests cheering when he converted a cracker from the blue line to take the lead.
In the second third, Schwenningen tried to build up pressure again. Jenike made several strong saves against the hosts and secured the lead for the time being. Towards the end of the second period, the Roosters got back into the game better and kept Schwenningen away from their own goal.
Pulkkinnen redeems Schwenningen
In the final third, Schwenningen was very close to equalizing: Sebastian Uvira only hit the right post after a beautiful solo. Matt Puempel then puts a shot just over the guests’ goal. Iserlohn relied primarily on counterattacks – and that was quite dangerous: Manuel Alberg and Michael Dal Colle failed in quick succession while standing alone in front of the goal.
Pulkkinnen saved the increasingly headless Wild Wings around three minutes before the end with his effortless shot at the far corner. The strong Jenike was powerless to equalize. Nothing happened after that, it went into extra time. There Senyshyn scored the winning goal for Schwenningen.
