A few hours after the former Real Madrid star’s commitment to Union had collapsed, Leipzig commented on the line-up for the Berlin cup game against VfL Wolfsburg with the question “Isco?”. The Berliners answered a few minutes later with the counter-question “Tradition?”
Union fans have always been critical of the Leipzigers, founded in 2009, as part of the global RB construct and complain, among other things, of the lack of co-determination by a large number of members.
Other clubs also entered into dialogue. FSV Mainz 05 tweeted three popcorn emojis. Wolfsburg’s Spanish account responded with a GIF, a short video showing a surprised reaction.
Isco had already completed the medical check at the Bundesliga soccer team Union, but the ideas about the contract then diverged between those responsible on both sides. (dpa)
