Ischia, the doctor treated with plasma died of Covid
The doctor from Ischia did not make it who, after contracting the Coronavirus, had undergone the treatment of plasma iperimmune by Dr. De Donno. Despite the recovery, which took place after two months of intensive care, the man, 55 years old and anesthetist at the Loreto Mare hospital, had been fighting for 4 months against the consequences that the infection caused by the virus had brought him. He died this morning in a rehabilitation clinic in Pozzuoli.
His recovery, which took place in May, had caused a lot of discussion but had also lit a light of hope on the coronavirus cure. The same Matteo Salvini, with a tweet, he rejoiced for this healing, writing “pockets of plasma from Mantua to Ischia, from Lombardy to Campania a life saved”. 4 months later, however, the consequences left by Covid were still too serious.
Plasma bags from Mantua to Ischia, from Lombardy to Campania, a life saved. THANK YOU Professor, these are the news that, after so many losses and so much suffering, warm the heart and rekindle the flame of hope. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/5VB4CLC9Lr

The therapy del plasma iperimmune still remains much debated today. It involves the transfusion of the plasma of a recovered patient to those who are still affected by Coronavirus: the idea behind the therapy is to exploit the antibodies found in the plasma of a patient already cured of Coronavirus to help others to defeat the disease. So far, however, the plasma cure has not yet produced such significant data that it can be considered effective.
