Isaquias Queiroz wins semifinal heat in the C1 1000m and disputes medal tonight | olympics

In Isaquias’ battery, three other canoes went to the final: Serghei Tarnovschi (Moldova), Conrad Scheibner (Germany) and Pengfei Zheng (China). The current two-time Olympic champion of the competition, the German Sebastian Brendel, was only seventh and is out of the final. In the first heat, four other athletes secured a place in the final: Adrien Bart (France), Hao Liu (China), Martin Fuksa (Czech Rep.) and Fernando Dayan Enriquez (Cuba).

Isaquias Queiroz started strong and passed first in the first 250m, with 57s47. In the first half, in the 500m, with 1m58s79, he kept the lead. In the 750m, the Brazilian went ahead with 3m01s93. And closed the 1000m winning with 4m05s579.
