In Isaquias’ battery, three other canoes went to the final: Serghei Tarnovschi (Moldova), Conrad Scheibner (Germany) and Pengfei Zheng (China). The current two-time Olympic champion of the competition, the German Sebastian Brendel, was only seventh and is out of the final.
