Isabella De Monte at her fourth change of shirt: now she moves on to Forza Italia

“Thanks to Antonio TajaniI will give my contribution.” The acquisition of new parliamentarians in Forza Italia continues. The blue secretary welcomes this time Isabella De Montedeputy of Italia Viva with a past in Action and even before that in the Democratic Party. It is her fourth change of coat in just over ten years spent in the institutions: “The harmony created at a parliamentary and territorial level is taking shape”, declares the former Renzian speaking of her new colleagues.

“My commitment to a moderate, pro-European Italy, attentive to the rights of all, will not be lacking,” writes De Monte on X while posing with the Foreign Minister. For Tajani, his entry is “an added value”, an accession that “demonstrates our attractiveness” according to the group leader in the Senate Maurizio Gasparri. Behind her yes to the Berlusconi team is the work of Sandra Savino, undersecretary of the Economy and head of FI in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the region of origin of the former IV.

After the farewell of Luigi MarattinDe Monte’s is the second farewell to Renzi. “We expected it,” the party admits. Furthermore, the friction arose after the opening to the broad field decided by the former prime minister. A repositioning, the one on the left, poorly digested by De Monte, who also played for years in the progressive area. Contacted by Republiche preferred not to declare. The posts against the prime minister remain on her profile, as she commits “one misstep after another” in Europe; the accusations a Matteo Salviniwhich makes us make “third world figures”; the posts critical of his current party, because “Forza Italia pays for Meloni’s isolation in Europe”.

The exit from the Democratic Party, the (former) Third Pole, the farewells to Action and Italia viva: the crossed destinies of Calenda and Renzi

Born in Udine and raised on the border with Austria and Slovenia, De Monte has always aligned herself on the left (or at least in the center) over the last decade. In 2013 she was elected senator for the Democratic Party, with Bersani still secretary. With the arrival of the mayor of Florence, Al Nazareno leaves the seats of the Senate and flies to Brussels: five years as an MEP. Extremely Renzian, in 2019 she left the Democratic Party and moved to Action, at the court of Carlo Calenda: thus she becomes regional secretary and is re-elected in 2022, this time to the Chamber. Only to then embrace again, after twelve months, Matteo Renzinow leader of Italia Viva, after the breakdown of the third pole. Having concluded a final conversation with the leader of IV last week, he decided not to return to the centre-left, preferring to change parties again and this time going to the right. The doors of Forza Italia have been opened to her: De Monte will now support the new blue course, more attentive to rights as requested by the children of Berlusconialbeit always in the majority with Giorgia Meloni.
