The Attorney General of the Republic (PGR) of Angola warned that the possibility of proceeding with an international arrest warrant together with the Portuguese authorities to target Isabel dos Santos was a possibility and the businesswoman hurried to classify this hypothesis as unfounded, justifying that he has collaborated with justice. Yesterday, at SOL, the Attorney General of the Republic of Angola again stressed that this will only happen if necessary.
“Regarding the statement by the Attorney General, what was said is the following: The warrant would only be issued if necessary,” said an official source, making it clear that if Isabel dos Santos collaborates, things could have a different direction: “If if there is collaboration with the de facto justice, the issuing of an international warrant will not be justified ”.
It is recalled that on Thursday Helder Pitta Grós, PGR of Angola, highlighted the joint work with Lisbon: «All the work that the last days has been made public is a work that is being done in total harmony between Angola and Portugal at level of judicial bodies, and if by chance there is a need to reach that point [um mandado de captura internacional] together we will see how to proceed ».
After these statements, the official source of the businesswoman explained to Lusa: «There has been a full and absolute availability of the engineer Isabel dos Santos, through her lawyers, to keep in constant contact with the courts and the processes existing in the various countries, at least that the intention of the Attorney General’s Office to issue an international arrest warrant is manifestly unjustified ».
This week it was also learned that the national authorities will have found in the mega search operation that took place in the last days – and that was advanced by SOL – many millions in safes kept at Novo Banco, in the city of Porto. The information, advanced by the CM, was however denied by the businesswoman, who said it was totally false that she had safes with millions in cash at Novo Banco.
