acute hepatitis still being discussed. Many people suspect a mysterious disease in child it is related to infection virus corona reason Covid-19.
Is that true?
Pediatrician, Melisa Anggraeni said that there might be a link between the two diseases.
According to him, SARS-CoV-2 which causes Covid-19 has existed for a long time. Not only the respiratory tract, the virus also infects the digestive tract.
“So this virus can cause upper respiratory tract infections, but can also cause digestive disorders such as diarrhea and vomiting,” said Melisa, quoted from Kulwap. HaiBunda, Friday (17/6). Diarrhea and vomiting are known to be common symptoms of acute hepatitis.
If the case goes on for a long time, the virus that causes Covid-19 is very likely to cause other things. This includes causing hepatitis or other liver function disorders.
“In a prolonged case, he can indeed” [SARS-CoV-2] causes hepatitis, where there is interference with liver function,” said Melisa.
This condition, said Melisa, clearly threatens children with low immune systems.
Adenovirus is suspected as the culprit of acute hepatitis. Several mysterious hepatitis patients were found positive for Adenovirus.
Melisa explained, experts suspect the increasing number of positive Adenoviruses was triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. “So, everything is focused on Covid-19. Everything is isolated at home and this Adenovirus is rarely exposed,” he said.
Because it is rarely exposed, continued Melisa, the virus mutated and might cause a hepatitis infection which is now known.

Acute hepatitis was first discovered in the UK in March. From there, the disease spread to a number of countries, including Indonesia.
It is still not known exactly what causes acute hepatitis. Until now, researchers are still conducting investigations.
Parents need to be aware of a number of symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, fever, abdominal pain, and jaundice. Also pay attention to the color of urine that is too concentrated or pale stools.
To prevent this, parents can keep the environment around their children clean. Don’t forget to get your child used to washing hands both before and after eating, or after touching certain surfaces and items.
