The Houston Police Department tweeted Friday afternoon about a reported incident at 4400 Anderson Road in Hiram Clarke.

The address houses the YES Prep South-West Secondary campus in Texas.

Police rushed to the scene shortly after 11:45 a.m. after a call arrived at the department regarding the shooting.

The scene remains active and authorities are urging residents to avoid the area.

According to a Facebook post from YES Prep Southwest Secondary, no students were injured in the shooting after an individual opened fire inside the charter school.

“FAMILY ATTENTION: Police are on campus with a suspect in custody who opened fire inside the school,” the school wrote.

“No student was injured. The students were transported to W. Fuqua and Hiram Clarke, where they can be picked up.

“Please don’t drive to school; the roads are blocked by the Houston Police Department. We collect information and will share it as soon as we can. “

It was later reported that the person who was injured was a staff member. No information on their identity has been disclosed.

YES Prep Southwest Secondary is a charter school serving grades 6 to 12.

The campus has an enrollment of over 1000 students.
