In today’s cinema it is common practice for a small scene to wait for the audience during or after the credits roll – and not only in the blockbuster sector! But is it worth sitting on Evil Dead Rise?
The fifth part of the “Tanz der Teufel” series is currently showing in German cinemas with “Evil Dead Rise”. In it, the demons no longer cause terror in a small wooden shack in the woods, but go to a demolished apartment complex in Los Angeles. It is also no longer young people or students who fall victim to evil, but a family that has to experience the meaning of solidarity the hard way first-hand.
Of course, the question these days is whether there might be a mid-credit or post-credit scene in Evil Dead Rise. Not only is it now customary for blockbusters such as the entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that a small scene awaits us during or after the credits, which announces another part or offers an extra treat for the viewers. Recently, a post-credit scene could also be discovered in genre films such as “Scream 6”!
Is sitting still worth it?
As Evil Dead fans know, Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead featured a post-credits scene where Ash (Bruce Campbell) got to say his iconic “groovy” to the camera one more time. A highlight for fans of the series. But is sitting still worth it in “Evil Dead Rise”? The answer is simple (and maybe a bit sobering): no. There is no mid-credit or post-credit scene in Evil Dead Rise. So if you’re not one of the viewers sitting out the credits (or if your bladder is tight), you can get out of the cinema seat and leave the hall with peace of mind.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that after “Evil Dead Rise” we can’t expect a sequel. But on the contrary. The “Tanz der Teufel” franchise has existed for more than 40 years and has been expanded again and again. So if Evil Dead Rise hits the box office, a sequel could be awaiting us in the very near future. “Scream 5” proved how quickly another part can be added if the game is successful. And “Evil Dead Rise” not only serves an extremely popular brand, but is also a really good film, as you can see from the official FILMSTARTS review.
