Is there a new pedestrian crossing coming to Gerbrunn?

At the junction between “Bertha-von-Suttner-Strasse” and “Kitzinger Strasse” in Gerbrunn, there is no way for pedestrians or cyclists to cross the street. A reader criticizes that crossing it is dangerous for passers-by as well as for cyclists on the busy street. Young families and senior citizens from Gerbrunn in particular would be angry about the job.

In addition, there was more and more traffic due to the expansion and influx in the young Wrzburg district of “Hubland”. The reader wonders if there is any plan in the future to be able to cross the street safely. The editorial team asked.

According to Christian Wei, press spokesman for the city of Wrzburg, a crossing with traffic lights is planned at the crossing “Kitzinger Strasse” and “Bertha-von-Suttner-Strasse”. Construction work on it is scheduled to begin in spring 2023. Cycle paths that run parallel to the “Kitzinger Strasse” district are also to be created in the future.

How high the costs are is currently still unclear, said the press spokesman. “It has not yet been clarified who bears what financial share and the maintenance costs. Another coordination meeting between the municipality of Gerbrunn and the city of Wrzburg will take place in mid-May, said Wei.

Inquired: You ask, we do research

Again and again we encounter things that are incomprehensible, situations that surprise, changes that excite. It is often discussed in the neighborhood, in the sports club, among colleagues. Can you think of something too? A road regulation that does not seem understandable? A green area that has been misused? The Main-Post editorial team asks what’s behind it. Send us your questions with the most important information to [email protected]. We will examine your suggestions. If it turns out that the topic is not an isolated case and has a corresponding relevance, we ask those responsible.
