The government held a socialization of the Law (UU) on the Harmonization of Tax Regulations (HPP). One of the materials regulated in the law is the tax amnesty volume 2 on January 1-30 June 2022.
Regarding the tax amnesty, there were concerns that the policy was only a government trap. This was stated by the Deputy General Chairperson for Fiscal and Public Policy at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Suryadi Sasmita.
According to Suryadi, the low participation of taxpayers participating in the tax amnesty volume I, continued Suryadi because there were concerns that the program was a trap from the government.
“So at that time they thought it might be a trap. Therefore, this is an opportunity for all my friends at the Chamber of Commerce throughout Indonesia, whom I respect. Of course, let all businessmen throughout Indonesia know that this is an opportunity,” explained Suryadi in the socialization of the HPP Law by Kadin, Friday (29/10/2021)
Responding to this, Director of Tax Regulation I, Directorate General of Taxes of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) Hestu Yoga Saksama said the tax amnesty program was not a ‘betmen trap’
The term is defined as an examination without evidence carried out by the Directorate General of Taxes to taxpayers who have participated in the tax amnesty.
“In terms of the ‘betmen trap’, it seems that this issue has emerged very quickly, Pak Suryadi if you remember. But actually there was never an issue of the Batman trap,” said Hestu in the same event.
He explained that the provisions and procedures regarding Tax Amnesty have been stated in the Law. According to him, the inspection will only be carried out if the Directorate General of Taxes finds other assets that are not registered.
“But maybe there was a tax obligation or maybe they participated in the tax amnesty with 10 units of assets but only reported 8, coincidentally, my tax friends met 2 of them whether they wanted to or not, but in fact there was never an issue of the Batman trap,” he explained.
