Is there a 2-G obligation in Vienna for children aged 12 and over?

For the age group concerned, the following applies nationwide: The ninja pass is equivalent to the 2G proof and is therefore also valid as proof of access to the restaurant, to cultural events or to cable cars. After completing the ninth year of school, young people must also have a 2G certificate in order to gain access to the respective areas.

Vienna – whose approach has already been more restrictive – could now go a step further. Only children up to the age of twelve would then probably be exempt from the 2G obligation to provide evidence. School attendance is not affected by the 2G requirement in Vienna either, and older people are also tested at school.

Vienna would have planned to issue a comprehensive ordinance at the end of this week in which 2G should largely replace the 2.5G system (vaccinated, recovered or PCR-tested, note) in force in Vienna. At the weekend, however, the federal government tightened the measures accordingly.
