The smartphone industry continues to be one of the most competitive tech markets, with new devices launched almost every month. One of the most recent additions to the market is the Xiaomi Redmi 10, a device that packs excellent features for individuals on a tight budget. Xiaomi continues to be among the top brands to provide consumers with affordable but quality smartphones, and the Redmi 10 is no exception. This review will explore the device’s specs, design, and other features that make it an excellent choice for budget-conscious users.
I enjoy reviewing the newest mobile phones, but not everyone wants to spend a fortune on high-end models. Therefore, I decided to test a more affordable smartphone from Tesco Mobile to see if it is worth the lower price. The Xiaomi Redmi 10 is made mostly of plastic, but the frosted back looks premium. Although the camera module protrudes from the rear, it features a 50MP main camera sensor that justifies its design. The 6.5-inch display has large rounded corners that match the device’s edges. While the bottom bezel is larger than the sides and top, which is unusual in costlier models, the display is not OLED and, as an LCD panel, is not exceptional because of mediocre viewing angles, contrast, and peak brightness. However, the screen’s 90Hz refresh rate, although set to 60Hz by default, is welcome. Surprisingly, the Remmi 10 has a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is rare in flagship models, and stereo speakers at either end of the phone that provide a premium stereo soundstage. The phone also has an IR blaster that enables it to be used as a remote for infrared-compatible devices, two nano SIM cards, and a microSD memory card. Additionally, the 8MP front camera’s optimal punch-hole placement is at the upper centre, and the loudspeaker up top is slim and hardly noticeable. The phone’s performance is adequate for casual gamers, but it is not appropriate for hardcore gamers looking for greater graphical performance. The 5,000mAh battery is one of the phone’s most impressive features, providing a full day on one charge, and often, two with moderate usage. The phone includes a 50MP main camera, an 8 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2 MP macro camera, and a 2 MP depth sensor, along with an 8 MP selfie camera. The main camera produces excellent images in bright light, but quality deteriorates in lower light conditions. The ultra-wide-angle camera is decent for the price range, but the macro camera is almost pointless. The front-facing camera is adequate for selfies and video chats. The phone’s video capture function is mediocre, with only full HD at 30fps and no 4K recording options available. Overall, the Xiaomi Redmi 10 has numerous excellent features for a budget smartphone, including stereo speakers, a 90Hz display, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a large battery, NFC for contactless payments, and decent performance. However, there are some downsides, such as the phone shipping with Android 11 and a lack of waterproofing. You can purchase the Xiaomi Redmi 10 from Tesco Mobile for €179.99 on Prepay.
In conclusion, the Xiaomi Redmi 10 is an impressive option for those looking for a smartphone that is both affordable and functional. With its large and clear display, powerful performance capabilities and reliable battery life, the Redmi 10 ticks all the boxes for everyday use. And with its sleek and stylish design, it has the added bonus of looking good too. Whether you’re a student, young professional or just someone looking for a great deal, the Xiaomi Redmi 10 is definitely worth considering.
