Is the life partner of politicians an open secret? – 2024-05-06 09:12:38

/ world today news/ With examples from Bulgaria and the Czech Republic: is the avoidance or silence on the subject a new Atlantic-European ($-€) criterion? Ethics, etiquette, protocol dictate adequate norms of behavior, even in everyday life. With a preponderance of communication in politics, diplomacy, business, an important role for the voter’s personal orientation is very often played by the candidate’s life partner.

Definitely around election campaigns! Especially for politicians whom the voter knows vaguely or not at all, but claim broad public trust in the conditions of massive, multi-layered and massive misinformation and mistrust towards them. And of suspicions of corruption, Shurobajanism, clientelism and serving non-Bulgarian interests. It seems that politics is not a paradise for little angels, but are so many of our candidate-elect politicians lately lonely and without partners in life? Like the candidate mayors of Sofia, for example? The chosen one of the yellow-collar workers, IT-programmers and the urban right-wing here and there appeared in photos with small children, but I did not find any pre-election word about their cohabiting mother. The Plovdiv candidate-candidate of the Official Party seems to have only children, mother and until recently subordinate ladies. But a life partner was not disclosed. As with its leader, officially. The latter also applies to the attractive candidate of the left, who was hardly only involved in trade union activities. And for the candidate of the “most and most patriotically minded” and the other candidates for city and district governors and councilors. Was it the goal to vote on blind confidence in the complete silence of the candidates on the subject of “life partner”? Without ideologies and “intrusions into personal space”, with “complete confidentiality” FOR and ON the “miracle-politicians”? As in the past – the character of Veselin Andreev in “Ballad of the Communist” – Anton remained silent during interrogation with: “…not a word, not a groan..”? Or at least like Asen Vassilev, the most restrained on the subject PP-et? It seems that our candidates have totally surpassed Macron, Merkel, Plevneliev, the Italian Prime Minister, the Slovak President, Viktor Orbán in terms of privacy. Presidents Zhelev, Stoyanov, Parvanov, Radev; prime ministers Kostov, Stanishev, as well as Todor Zhivkov were not ashamed of their life companions Mara Maleeva, Marutsa, Antonina, Desislava or Eleni-te (Kostova, Yoncheva). Hopefully! Although the mentioned ladies hardly had the IQ of Marie Curie, the Hungarian chess player Judith Polgar, or the fame of socialites Margaret Thatcher, Indira Gandhi, Golda Meir, Joan of Arc, Clara Zetkin, Apassionaria, or at least Nadezhda Krupskaya. Or did Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, Raquel Welch, Bridget Bardot, Gina Lollobrigida, Sophia Loren compete in their youth? Or they overshadowed the overambitious von der Leyenkas, Stalinko-Kristalins, Gabrielo-Nedelchevkas, Maydelo-Paunovkas, Nadkas (international / garage), Desi-Atanasovkas, Ninovo-Manolovkas, Taffrovo-Mladenovkas or new Polit-Azisovkas, Kunevkos who exceeded their personal capacity -tricksters…?

*** In the local elections, according to political scientist Dimitar Ganev, “Bulgarians gave a vote of confidence to the assembly”. Okay. But in Sofia, a neo-cap-rich man with ancestry from the “blades of the dictatorship of the proletariat” appears in the run-off against a charmer from training-propaganda courses on the “right faith”. According to her envious people, even with “marginal for Europe South Asian, centuries ago, immigrant origin”. Even if this is true, Sofia needs a radical change in her face! With the risk of extremes between Pavlik and Morozov in the name of Kelepira and Uravnovilovka. But if we delve deeper philosophically and historically – both of them are indirect consequences of the Deep Behind the Scenes of the “most resistant race” for centuries (I quote Zlatyu Boyadjiev for his friend and colleague Yosif Perets). Without interfering ethnic affiliations, events, concepts and their derivatives, incl. proper names. And without attaching epithets. As e.g. Judaism, Zion, Karl (Herschel Levi Mordechai) Marx, Leyba Davidovich Bronstein (= Le/o/v Trotsky or V. Ulyanov (= Lenin by maternal line Blank).

**Otherwise, the State Protocol Law, in force from 1.11.2015, concerns the holding of official ceremonies on Bulgarian territory. Including. the hierarchical arrangement of state bodies and officials during ceremonies. In the days surrounding the national holiday of the Czech Republic on October 28, there appeared a lot of comments about the traditional awarding of the highest state honors. First performed by the new President Petr Pavel (with sons Jan and Piotr) on the Day of Independence of Czechoslovakia/CRS from the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918. When issuing invitations to attend the state award ceremony Czech media such as seznam.medium and cnn.iprima.cz signaled a “comparative mess” in the selection of guests for passive attendance. And whether the invitations were individually addressed, or + with married, resp. life partner.

*For informationuntil 1989 under the director of the “Unified State Protocol” Dr. Boris Djibrov, the principles, procedures and practices of the French-British “Diplomatic ceremonial and protocol” with abstractors-authors John Wood, Jean Serre. Based primarily on royal and bourgeois-republican and partly on Vatican traditions on the subject. According to them, the presence of the spouse at official appearances is the rule. In his absence for valid reasons, he is replaced by a close relative (daughter, son). A lonely politician, diplomat was not fully accepted. Even in the absence of the ambassador’s spouse for an official appearance, she should be replaced by the spouse of the next diplomat in rank. But there is something to be known about the companion. In 1970, in the USSR as well, they translated the book into Russian and began to apply it practically, instead of their proletarian-Great Russian-tsarist-European version. Far Eastern protocol also has its own good and respectful traditions, but the simplification of etiquette and protocol in Europe occurred mainly under the influence of transoceanic Atlanticism, pragmatism, often – essentially – ignorance of European, Vatican and Far Eastern traditions. And the reluctance to be assimilated, which often appealed to the peasant-worker mentality of rulers in the ex-Eastern bloc, incl. in our country, in the former CS/F/SR. The successors of Dr. Djibrov, I mean mainly the ambassadors Atanas Pavlov and Yordan Kozhuharov, despite their numerous publications, especially the textbooks of the latter, seemed to have no way of not taking into account the imposed pragmatism of political realities. This parroting mostly appealed to the new political class, at least throughout Europe and the States. Including. in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, on the island, in France

**Jan Maresh and other reporters and newsmen are not required to know presidential political and diplomatic (or “more diplomatic”) protocol in the Czech Republic. Hardly even the Czech president, a hereditary military man, a paratrooper in his youth, or. general, in 2015-18 the chairman of the NATO Military Committee, does not rely on the experts in his administration. And he hardly personally deals with invitations, except possibly to skim through their list. And former presidents Miloš Zeman and Prof. Vaclav Klaus were invited with their wives to the official ceremony and subsequent reception on October 28. The fact that the Klaus family responded to the invitation, and Milos Zeman “had another program”, is a right to decide on the reaction of the invited.

*Journalists are perplexed as to why the former prime ministers Andrej Babis and Jiri Paroubek were not invited to 28.10 with their wives or partners (Babish is married, and Paroubek married for the 3rd time at the age of 25). The media are unanimous that under presidents V. Havel and V. Klaus they would be invited in a 1 + 1 format to both appearances. I can confirm this practice during my term as ambassador to President Vaclav Havel in 1996-99. Then V. Klaus and M. Zeman took turns as Prime Ministers and Speakers of the Lower House of Parliament, and I. Paroubek, nicknamed the Bulldozer, in 1998 he became the deputy mayor of Prague. At the moment, Andrei Babish is a “regular” deputy in the State Council, but he is the chairman of the most numerous parliamentary party ANO, albeit an opposition one. Moreover, in January of this year he was Pavel’s opponent in the runoff for the post of president. His wife Monika and “Paroubkova” Gabriela only had invitations to the reception in the Spanish Hall in the Prague Castle (Hrada). IN the ceremonial hallVladislav“, again, there were not enough places!? Commentators consider the apology frivolous, “bureaucratic narrow-minded and somewhat undignified” (seznam.cz). They don’t know if President Pavel is in the loop. They claim that even under M. Zeman’s administration, some unwanted political or emotional guests were not invited at all on October 28, and others were unaccompanied. I knew V. Klaus and the ethnic Slovak A. Babis as a businessman vaguely from 1989 and from 1991, from my previous mandate in the CSFR. Well, the heads of administrations and the 3 previous presidents. Without the current Mrs. Vohralikova, but Hrad has never been without a routine protocol, as I saw in a photo at the presentation of credentials ½ year ago. Vaclav Havel and Prof. Vaclav Klaus had highly professional protocol directors. Even the first Havel director, Prof. Alois Drahlik, agreed to become the supervisor of two of our current ambassadors for dissertations in history and economics, I think, but they – unfortunately – disappointed him.

**Looking for political motives surrounding Hrada’s hospitality towards the two former prime ministers, the newsmen comment that I. Paroubek was forgotten and unsuccessfully tried several times to return to big politics. Zeman and Paroubek are former chairmen of the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSDP), and Prof. Klaus – of the center-right GDP. Paroubek recently tried to become visible to the media with critical comments about the current political representation and his successors in the ČSDP. In that year he founded the “Dissatisfied” society, which, according to him, would be the basis of a new left movement. And he recently attended the summit in China, in which V. Putin also participated. So “some reservations” were possible for Mr. Paroubek given his recent pro-Russian and pro-Chinese statements. A. Babish he also did not forgive Hrada for his attitude towards him and 3-4 days ago he publicly reminded the president of his former membership in the Cheka. He also accused him of having worked for the communist/counter/intelligence in his youth.

***Compared to Bulgarian politicians and candidates for such, it seems that established Czech politicians do not bother to inform voters about their personal lives, including about partnerships, about divorces and other personal problems and experiences. And good information about the spouses in the lives of politicians can sometimes serve to make state decisions. For example, it is public knowledge that since 1968 the distinguished Czech politician Prof. Vaclav Klaus has been married to Livia, born Mišinová, Slovakian, with a respected scientific career as an economist. In 2003-13, she was also “first lady” while her husband was president. Although Klaus and Zeman were at opposite political poles for more than 10 years as leaders of the center-right GDP and the Social Democrats/CSDP, the new president in March 2013, Miloš Zeman, showed political tolerance and knowing and appreciating Ms. Livia for years Klausová appointed her Czech ambassador to Slovakia (until 2018). I remember with pleasure that she was a frequent guest at our residence and for our national holiday on March 3.

**** The transparency surrounding the private lives of politicians in our country and in the Czech Republic differs. Not that there aren’t politicians there who rewrote their biographies and are discreet about the person or people they live with. The tweaking of protocol practices will clearly continue. The Czech national holiday has subsided. For 3 decades, at least in both countries, the VOS/socialist/R/evolution/or VOYU/Deiska/R) in a new style, carried out 106 years ago in November, has not been universally respected. While the Harvard-educated, palanquins, NGOs, etc. ex-Andreshkov citizens of the 3rd generation have not yet accepted Pumpkin Day as a new state holiday (Halloween), dressed in costumes of monsters, ghosts, skeletons, witches and demons or Roast Turkey Day, that is (Thanksgiving day) let’s choose our candidate with optimism in 3-4 days!
