Is the iPad 10 too expensive? iPad 9 for €399 (-€40), Smart Keyboard for €149 (-€50), delivered before Christmas

We’re entering the final sprint for Christmas gifting, and the iPad 9 on sale and delivered in time for the holiday season is a prime candidate.

Much more accessible than the iPad 10

With the iPad 10, Apple has significantly increased the price of its entry-level iPad, the latter starting at 589 euros. The final bill will be higher even if you plan to add some accessories, such as the Apple Pencil, or the Magic Keyboard Folio with a modest cost of 299 euros (here you can find our test). For tighter budgets, Cupertino keeps the iPad 9 in its catalog, a very capable machine on a daily basis, but it inflates the price of the latter which is now 439 euros for the model with 64 GB of storage.

The iPad 9 remains in the game

The iPad 9 has a 10.2-inch panel in 2,160 x 1,620 pixels and incorporates the A13 Bionic chip iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, with enough power to run all App Store applications in good condition. The iPad 9’s ultra-wide-angle 12-megapixel front camera also allows you to take advantage of the Centered Frame function to keep subjects in the frame during a call via FaceTime, but also Zoom or other video conferencing apps. Finally, the iPad 9 is compatible with the Apple Pencil 1 (but it has the appropriate Lightning port unlike the iPad 10) and the Smart Keyboard, which is also on sale.
