After two days of discussions, the government came to the end of the examination of the anti-Covid bill, this Friday, July 23. Shortly before 6 a.m., the deputies voted for the text which must now be discussed by the senators. It obviously includes the vaccination obligation for health personnel, in establishments or at home, then allows the extension of the pass to new places from August, and in particular hospitals and nursing homes.
Present in the government text, the hospital could have escape the sanitary pass because the deputies had exempted non-emergency patients and visitors from presenting the document at the entrance of hospitals or nursing homes, through an amendment proposed by Philippe Banassaya (Les Républicains). An amendment considered by Olivier Véran as “totally contradictory with the spirit of the sanitary pass, which consists of creating establishments where the elderly, the frail and the sick are away from the covid“.
The service of medical emergencies, however, will not be affected. Only people coming for treatment that has been scheduled or to visit a hospitalized loved one must present the document, including a vaccination certificate, a negative Covid test or proof of recent infection less than 6 months old.
