Is the Covid-19 virus created as a biological weapon? According to US intelligence

U.S. intelligence has been unable to agree on whether the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 has evolved in nature or leaked from the laboratory.

However, a report released in part by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence on Friday expressed a unanimous view that the virus was not created as a biological weapon.

The report is semi-confidential.

“According to all the service, two hypotheses are plausible – natural contact with an infected animal and a laboratory-related incident,” the report said.

The view that the virus has been transmitted naturally from animal to human has been strongly supported by several intelligence services, while the view that the virus has leaked from the laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology has been moderately supported by one intelligence service.

US President Joe Biden, who received the full text of the report, has criticized China for not allowing the international community to obtain information that could allow the origin of the virus to be ascertained.

“Critical information about the origins of this pandemic exists in the People’s Republic of China, but from the very beginning, government officials in China have tried to prevent international investigators and members of the global public health community from accessing it,” Biden said.

“The world deserves answers,” Biden said, adding that he would work tirelessly to get those answers.

In May, Biden asked intelligence to evaluate the information and produce a report that “could bring us closer to a certain conclusion” about the origin of the virus.
