I’m not an expert, but as far as I understand, Spotify makes loud songs quieter, down to a level of about -14 LUFS (we’re talking about the value integrated in the whole song here) and makes quiet songs louder up to the same level. In the latter case you have a limiter if the peaks go higher than allowed.
But I am not aware that they do any further processing, such as compressors or similar.
